Celebrating the life, music, and legacy of one of Jamaica’s dedicated cultural ambassadors.

Roland Burrell, affectionately known in reggae circles as a dedicated cultural ambassador, was born in Pennants, Clarendon, Jamaica. Raised in the heart of rural Jamaica, he developed a deep appreciation for music from an early age, influenced by the rhythms, stories, and struggles of everyday Jamaican life.

Burrell recorded his first album, Johnny Dollar, for Tanka Records, featuring hit songs “Hey Mama” and “Stormy Night.” These tracks introduced his unique sound and helped establish him in Jamaica’s reggae scene.

Throughout his career, Roland Burrell built an impressive catalog, including Fling Reggae in Park Heights with Admiral Tibbet on Sir Tommy’s Label, and Intelligency on the Rambana Label.

Between 2014 and 2017, Burrell was managed by Carlton “Collie Boasy” Brown of Bold N Boasy Entertainment. During this period, Burrell experienced a major career revival, securing royalties, signing a publishing deal with Lakes Brothers Publishing BMI, and returning to live performances across Jamaica, the Caribbean, and the USA.

Roland Burrell and Carlton Brown also collaborated on the album Lonely, featuring the title track “Lonely.”

“The music will live forever.”
