Lesson 1.1 What is Forex Trading?

Forex trading (short for foreign exchange trading) is the buying and selling of currencies to make a profit.

You trade one currency for another.

You earn money when the value of the currency you bought goes up compared to the one you sold.

Example:

You buy EUR/USD at 1.1000 (meaning 1 Euro = 1.10 US Dollars).

Later, the price rises to 1.1200.

You sell and make profit because the Euro got stronger against the Dollar.

Why Do People Trade Forex?
It’s the biggest financial market in the world (over $7 trillion traded daily!).

It’s open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

You can trade from your phone or laptop.

Leverage lets you control big trades with small amounts of money.

People love it because you can make money when markets go up OR down.

Key Forex Basics:
Currency Pairs:
You always trade two currencies together (e.g., GBP/USD, USD/JPY).

Bid/Ask Price:

Bid = Price to sell.

Ask = Price to buy.

Pips: Tiny units of price movement (profit or loss is measured in pips).

Leverage: Borrowed money to increase the size of your trade (be careful with it!).
